Quick answerA Global Capability Center (GCC), also called a captive center, is an offshore center that a company owns or controls to deliver technology, operations and business services for the parent organization. Unlike outsourcing, the work, talent and know-how stay inside the company. Relevance Lab helps enterprises set up a GCC in India, run it, and turn it into an AI-first innovation hub.

We build and run GCCs in the Tier 1 hubs of Mumbai, Pune, Gurgaon, Noida, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Kolkata, and in the Tier 2 city of Gandhinagar.

Ask a GCC expert

A Global Capability Center (also spelled global capability centre) is an offshore unit owned or controlled by a multinational to deliver technology, engineering, operations and business services for the parent company. GCCs are also called captive centers. Today they increasingly run product engineering, data, AI and digital transformation work, not just back-office tasks.

With outsourcing, a vendor owns the people, processes and know-how and delivers against a contract. With a GCC, the company keeps control of the talent, intellectual property and culture, and the center works as an extension of its own organization. Models like GCC as a Service give you GCC-style control without setting up an entity on day one.

India offers the largest pool of technology and engineering talent among offshore locations, mature GCC cities such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune and Gurgaon, an established ecosystem of service providers, and cost advantages.

First-time GCCs and mid-market firms usually start with GCC as a Service. Companies that already own a center and need specialist depth choose a Managed GCC. Companies that want to own their center later choose Build-Operate-Transfer. Centers that have stalled benefit from GCC Transformation, and companies going through a deal use GCC Mergers & Acquisitions. The GCC Readiness Assessment recommends a model in about five minutes.

With a hosted model such as GCC as a Service, a first team can be working in weeks, because the entity, workspace, IT and payroll are already in place. Setting up your own entity and campus typically takes several months. The timeline depends on team size, location and compliance requirements.

Relevance Lab is an engineering-led, AI-first technology company, not only a setup provider. Alongside talent, workspace and compliance, we bring cloud, data, AI and automation practices, our own platforms (RLCatalyst, ServiceOne, SPECTRA), and FinOps cost governance from day one.
